On
March
12,
during
a
training
session,
an
Indian
Air
Force
Tejas
plane
went
down
near
Jaisalmer.
Luckily,
the
pilot
managed
to
get
out
safely
before
the
crash
happened.
The
Tejas
is
a
super-fast
combat
plane
made
right
here
in
India.
Back
in
1984,
the
Indian
government
started
a
project
called
the
Light
Combat
Aircraft
(LCA)
program.
This
project
aimed
to
create
a
homegrown
fighter
jet,
and
to
make
sure
everything
went
smoothly,
they
set
up
a
group
called
the
Aeronautical
Development
Agency
(ADA)
to
look
after
the
whole
thing.
This
is
the
first
crash
of
the
indigenous
jet
since
its
first
test
flight,
23
years
ago,
in
2001.
